be a volunteer mentor

A mentor is an individual, usually older, always more experienced, who helps and guides another individuals development. This guidance is not done for personal gain.

Mentoring is used in many settings. Although it is most common in business, it is also commonly used in educational settings, especially with marginalized communities, many of which are found in Philadelphia.

One of the most valuable assets you can have is a good mentor. The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines a mentor as "a trusted counselor or guide."

CityNet uses the mentoring approach with our LAMPhilly students. If you would like to become a mentor to one of them, please contact us through this site, and we will match you with an appropriate student.
