WE SEEK to help churches reconnect with their own communities in a way that allows naturally-forming social groups, around churches and neighborhoods, become connected and empowered to work for a common agenda. By helping foster these social groups, as well as connect them with the larger social institutions, we serve as a change agent for resourcing activities. We can't do it for you, but we can help you learn how to do it better!

RESOURCING

Resourcing is a broad term applied to the practices and academic disciplines of civic leaders, activists, involved citizens and professionals to improve various aspects of local communities.

In the context of our Mission,  resourcing means that we seeks to partner with local churches pastors and leaders in a holistic fashion in order to bring about change that impacts both the economic, social and spiritual needs of a given neighborhood/ community. As an effective urban ministry, we understand both how to work with individuals and how to affect communities' positions within the context of larger social institutions.

Specific Resourcing activities in which we are engaged include:

Connecting urban churches with suburban churches. The connection, often between the haves and the have-nots creates a synergy and interdependence that is difficult to describe, but so important in helping everyone see a different perspective than the one they might be used to as well as bringing unique resources to the table that neither would have on their own.

Teaching church leaders how to create job opportunities. By sharing models that work with those who might be seeking to impact their own communities with economic development, CityNet serves as a bridge between mentor and model, and creates a bond of trust and efficiency that many churches and leaders simply cannot obtain without the help of an organization like CityNet.

Educating leaders to embrace and adapt to the following areas of change.

  • Social: (ethnic, cultural, racial reconciliation
  • Economic: (poverty, business, employment)
  • Spiritual: (reaching unchurched populations, intergenerational relevance)
