a student speaks

"Citynet's training was more than an education, because it provided for me a dynamic community of other men and women serving on the front lines of ministry in our city, teacher's who bleed bible and had real ministry experience, and the open door for cross racial / cultural / and denominational connections that made a way for me to serve alongside and be ordained to gospel ministry with a fellow Lamp student. Not only that but my year of studies was turned into credits towards a BS. in Bible at Philadelphia Biblical University at a fraction of the cost. We have incorporated many of the concepts in the training up of our own Elder's and Deacon's in our church, and I hope to bring some of the components of Citynet's training with me to central Africa."
Joe Marlin, Mercy Pastor for Liberti Church East, appointees with Africa Inland Mission for Theological Studies. (Lamp 2007)
TRAINING
LAMPhilly's curriculum is essentially a four-year program. The first two years focus on character, spiritual development and urban ministry. Those completing this segment of the program receive a Certificate in Spiritual Foundations for Missional Leadership.
The second two years offers an Advanced Certificate in Urban Ministry Leadership. This aspect of the program deals primarily with developing a deeper theological and missional framework for urban ministry.
LAMPhilly
a missional approach to urban ministry
LAMPhilly is the essential training arm of CityNet
Ministries. A major concern of CityNet has been to offer
training to men and women that would provide a distinctly
urban and missional approach to ministry preparation. In the
urban context this also needed to be preparation that would
be accessible financially, educationally and logistically to
those who were already involved in ministry and held
full-time jobs.
LAMPhilly operates with a cohort system, in which those who enroll for a given year stay together and learn as a community. Students are assigned a Mentor who meet with the students on a regular basis throughout his/her time with the school.
